'05 GSX-R600 For Sale

"My Affair's" Story

Time to go, 'My Affair' is up for Sale. The day I got her in April '05, I immediately went to work on enhancing her abilities. She got a 520 kit, Kevlar race brake lines up front, side and swing arm sliders, engine covers, new bar ends and a 3 position Elka Race shock. She is a beauty with only 7931 miles on her, mostly done at the track by a 'grown up' adult. I have ridden this bike for over 2 years at Pahrump, NV almost exclusively and the bike is setup perfectly for at 160lb naked rider at this track. Her oil was changed after every track weekend as well as coolant every 3 months.

I only used synthetic oil from day 1 and 0 miles and she did 101.5hp at the tire with only 500miles on her...she has built up some ponies since then. Midway through '06 track season she suddenly lost her front brakes, after much playing around found out that the original master cylinder could not handle the job, so it got a new Brembo master cylinder, and it WORKS!!! At the end of '07 I anticipated doing laps in the high 1:40's, so to get the most control out of the engine, I put in a new 6 ball bearing Yoyodine slipper clutch....WoW!! That gave riding a whole new style!

At the beginning of the '07 season and my last and best year at the track, I upgraded the front suspension to Öhlins internal parts, done by a prodigy of the famous suspension and official Öhlins AMA expert, Stig Pettersson from PPS Racing. I can provide pictures of the work being done.

This bike was taken care of very well and has many extras to make for a great track day experience from handling to power delivery. The suspension and addition of the 520 kit with +2 teeth made it run from corners at the track having many 636 owners asking me what kit I put in the bike...they were pissed when I said the engine is stock. You'll understand when you own it and ride it hard out of corners, the suspension and teeth just WORK!!!

Mileage: Since Day 1 and 0 Miles this bike has had a 47 tooth rear sprocket which is 2 teeth up from the stock 45T, which places the milage off by almost 5%. So even though the odometer shows 7931, the actual milage is 7596.51, if driven up right. However this bike spent its time on the side wall of the tire and has gone through over 12 sets of tires, which is close to 700 miles per set. On the side wall mileage is accelerated by up to 10%, which means the real miles could be far less, closer to 6836.4 if you are really concerned. Yes it's true both teeth and extreme cornering have added nearly 1000 miles that aren't really there. Track days are FUN!!

Slight Damage: First of all this bike has NEVER gone down at the track or anywhere else, it has NEVER been crashed. It has a small dent in the tank from a handle bar of another bike, where that bike lost one of its tie downs and hit my bike during transport. The other damage is the right side cowling, where it got backed in to by another bike and it fell off the stands in the pits. Now I have a guy who can plastic weld this section and make it look perfect if you want his number. I never did it because it doesn't hurt the bike in any way.

Why I am selling

I hope it's obvious that I absolutely adore this bike, if not you should know that I really do. It's kind of sad that I am parting with it, but it is bike #6 in my past 21 years of riding sport bikes.

The reason I am selling her is I have obligated my life to the pursuit of other endeavors to enrichen my life. I do Search Engine Optimization for my web consulting company and have recently taken on the new task of property investing which takes a lot of my time. So much so I have not ridden her since September, sadly she sits in my garage collecting spider webs, so I would like her new owner to be a mature rider, maybe a track day enthusiast, but definitely someone who is on their 2nd or 3rd bike and not their first.
