Google has thrown its hat in the browser wars with its new Google Chrome (v0.2.149.29), released Sept 1, 2008. It is a light weight, no frills, open sourced, tabbed and secure browser that is very FAST and scores an impressive 79/100* on Acid Test 3, which puts it in 2nd place behind Opera 9.52 in our tests. Download it today, its easy to use.
* Acid Test: test your browser our results are IE6 (12/100), IE7 (5/100 or fails), IE8SP2B2 Server (12/100), Safari 3.1.2 (75/100), Opera 9.2.7 (46/100), Opera 9.52.10108 (84/100). The Reference of what the page should look like is here.
A Note on IE8: it is a PIG of a browser, while Microsoft has done a much better job on passing the Acid tests, it does consume more memory resources than Windows XP does alone, that's sad! The saddest part is it only gets to 9/100, IF you add all and allow all data references, then when it gets to 9, it will either crash the browser tab or insist on allowing data from "blank:about" then it maybe makes it to 12 out of 100. Microsoft, your loosing the Browser wars and your not listening to those that matter, your customers! And just what are you guys doing on the the W3C if your not following the guidelines? You can't bully others that are in unison, especially with an inferior browser.
